MYYYYYY Weekend

I know many of you think that all I’m doing here is chilling, but, not so. Days can actually be quite stressful when you’re learning a new way to live, planning a new life, making changes inside and out, adjusting to new people, places and personalities, even your own personality for that matter. So this weekend I decided to spend some time with self. Saturday I read, worked out, caught up on some emails, cooked chicken and eggs for the next few days, made pudding, studied some Spanish and to be honest, I did some putzing then went to bed early. It feels good to be rested and I was eager to start Sunday early. The days are shorter than back home here anyway. Sun sets at 6 all year round. Then add the big rain that is coming this month and next and it’s a must to maximize the early part of the day.

So, I greeted Sunday at 6:30 am. Was out of the house and off to the beach, walking, iPOD loaded with a new Latin playlist, by 6:45. I tucked away on the far end, behind some rocks, book in hand. (Good book BTW, it’s called Red Tent. Thank you Coco. I will bring this one back for mom, nana and my ladies.) All was quiet except for the waves and the breeze. I read, contemplated, reminisced then pushed it all aside to just enjoy the moment. No backward, no forward. Just waves crashing, the breeze blowing while being alone, but knowing that I’m not alone - truly cathartic and uplifting. C’mon people, you’ve got to try this! Being Ok with who you are and where you are, even though it’s not what some people need, want or expect from you…das kewl.

The rest of the day was equally as special. I tutored Jocelyn and Evelyn in English. There’s no paycheck, but it feels good to work with people that appreciate your efforts and feel like I’m giving back to the community. After the lesson I plugged back in to the iPOD for a walk over to Mariposa for the best sunset in town, the day’s budget spent on a treat of vino tinto. Gotta have one once in a while to keep the blood runnin’ smooth. Shoo atherosclerosis!

Back home early for a healthy dinner, writing, reading and sleeping. Suenos dulces.
